Line thickness

I am a new user so please forgive my lack of ability... I am trying to draw curved lines... how can I change the thickness of the line?

You need to use the Fill + Stroke dialog (Ctrl+Shift+F, or use the toolbar button that looks like a painbrush). Then in the Stroke Style tab you can change the line weight (ie thickness).
