Working with a vinyl cutter trying to get my graphics to work with inkscape how to?

Asked by Amy Ross

I have just got a vinyl cutter and was told that Inkscape could help me make my graphics vectors so I can cut them and I am having ho luck at all. Help! Is there some one that could walk me through this because I don't understand all of the jargen and shortcut and all of that. I would like to scan my projects in and have my vinyl cutter cut them out. I am working with Sign Blazer.
Thank you, Amy

There's a toolbar button in the section titled "affect:" for which the tool-tip is "when scaling objects, scale the stroke width by the same proportion". You want to make sure that setting is off, then when you scale the stroke stays the same, eg the path can grow but it's stroke width is the same.

You can also find it in the application settings (Ctrl+Shift+P) under "Transforms", un-tick the "scale stroke width" setting.
