How do I import from printer/scanner

I have a new Mac computer and can't import from scanner. In the past I have used a PC and had not problem importing from CorelDraw. CorelDraw isn't available for Mac.

Inkscape does not support to directly import (acquire) images from a scanner yet, though it is a long-standing feature request:

Bug #171843 “Acquire/Scan Image Interface”

For now you have to use external tools to acquire a scan, save the scanned image to your hard disk and the 'File > Import…' the raster graphics into a new Inkscape document.
