use or conver SVG to JPG

Hello,

Inkscape can't export to JPG directly. Thus you must export to PNG (File>Export) and then convert the PNG (like JPG, it's a bitmap format) to JPG with a bitmap editor like Gimp. The image size can be set in the export dialog.
Note that PNG is now supported by all recent web browsers and that you can use it directly on your web pages.

In INKSCAPE, I have created the image in ink and exorted to myfile.png
I opened GIMP opened myfile.png (it looks good)
In GIMP, file/saveas (name) myfile.jpg. GIMP says I have to Export, i say OK
and choose .jpg extension. Programs says "your image should be exportd...jpeg plug in can't hanldle transparency". i clik EXPORT, the export dialog comes up, i clike EXPORT,
a "save as jpg" box comes up with only input being quality (1-100)
There is no selection for image size to set. Where is image size setting you refer to above.

Sorry, I was not clear enough. The image size parameters are not in the Gimp export dialog, but in the Inkscape one (see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL_v16/html/File-Export.html#File-Export-PNG).
But you can also change the size in Gimp if you prefer, with Image>Scale Image.
