change colors of drop-down menu items.

Asked by Henry Christensen on 2011-01-22

The drop-down menus are very difficult to read. For instance, click on File and hover mouse pointer over an option. The option font color is so close to the background color as to make it virtually invisible. I am using Windows 7. Is there a way to select which colors are used for the drop-down menu fonts?

The issue is tracked in bug #630468 “Menu bar items go white when mouse over”

I think there might be two different bugs here. The white menus issue is probably resolved, but I can't read menu items when they are selected because the dark blue selection color is so close to the black characters in the selected menu item. I'm using Windows 7, same as Henry. Perhaps an option in the preferences dialog could let us choose the menu selected item font color? Even if the choices were simply black or white it would help a lot. Black text on very dark blue background just doesn't work.

Can you help with this problem?
