There sould be tools for transformation vertices or a path

Asked by Jakub T. Jankiewicz

If would be nice if Inkscape have tools for tor transformation points in a path like rotation and scale.
This features are in 3ds max where, when you select vertices you can rotate and scale them (with center placed between them).
If would be nice if you can align vertices to the right or to the left (now they are align to the center - better was when they was align to the last selected) just like object. Now when you want align points in the path you must copy and past x or y coordinates from one point to another.

I'm using Inkscape 0.48.0 r9654 on Ubuntu.

> tools for tor transformation points in a path like rotation and scale

Already implemented:
a) Normal mode: rotate and scale a selection of nodes with keyboard shortcuts:
   <http://inkscape.org/doc/keys048.html#id2407453>
   <http://inkscape.org/doc/keys048.html#id2407536>
b) New in Inkscape 0.48: rotate, scale and skew a selection of nodes using transformation handles (like with the select tool). Also allows to drag the rotation center (used as base for scaling and rotating). Modifiers (Shift, Ctrl and Alt) allow further options for the transforms of nodes with the mouse.
   <http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.48>

In both modes: if the cursor hovers over a node (highlighted with red), the node is used as reference point for the transformation.
Further details in the manual: <http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths-Editing.html#Paths-Editing-Node>

> align vertices to the right or to the left (now they are align to the center

Current mode: averaging nodes (in the Align&Distribute dialog). In 0.47, it as possible to either align to last selected (Align & Distribute) or average (x-, y-fields), see the discussion in Bug #171287 “Align dialog should have "Relative to" for nodes, too” <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171287>.

Proposing to close this report as 'Invalid' (transform of nodes already implemented) or to link as duplicate to bug #171287.

Its very good news. Thanks.

It's better to convert to a question.

Yes, that's better (it will set the status as bug to 'Invalid' too, but make the topic available as question at the same time).

The draft of the Inkscape manual for Inkscape 0.48 already includes the description for the new transformation handles of the node tool:
