How do I make my Inkscape drawing bigger and/or smaller?

Asked by Eamer Kristen O'Halley on 2010-11-15

I tried to zoom in/out of my Inkscape drawing using Ctrl - Scroll. Our teacher showed my class this at school so I expected it to zoom. Please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong or if there is a different method A.S.A.P - (Hopefully by tonight!!!) - 11/14/2010...

Thank you Inkscape Techys!

Hello,

You're not doing wrong, and this shortcut should work unless you changed the wheel behavior in File>Inkscape Preferences>Scrolling (Mouse wheel zooms by default).
Could you please explain what happens when you try to zoom with Ctrl + mouse wheel?

There are some other shortcuts related to zooming in the keys and mouse reference:

At the bottom right of the Inkscape window, you should see a percentage labelled "Z:". This represents the zoom level. Clicking the up and down triangles, or typing a new number in the box will change the zoom.

In case you haven't already been told, there's also the ever-useful keyboard shortcuts: the minus key zooms out, while the plus key zooms back in again. Then there's the "1" and "5" buttons, which will give you 1:1 zoom (100%), and fit to window, respectively.

What percentage in zoom does the box need to be to fix on a 11 x 17 sheet?

Can you help with this problem?
