remove background on image

I want to put 2 identical images overlapping each othe but there is a white background in the way. I need to remove this. Any ideas?????

Please click the object you want the background removed on, select PATH from the top level menu, click trace bitmap, check the remove background box at the bottom, click update. done !

I am glad, You can also use a 'mask' to do exactly the same thing, experimenting is the best way to learn :- )

When I try to trace the bitmap nothing happens. Why?
