drawing is difficult from curved to straight lines

Asked by david teves

Just wondering if there is a way to draw a straight line right after you do a curved one
from the same tool? I cant get this done in any way even if I stop and change tools :(
Illustrator is so easy for drawing in comparison, i see no reason for not adopting its
easier functions? Even quark is easier to draw with and its a page layout program.
I would really like to migrate to Inkscape but also quick keys are not there and hard
to implement, Im failing with this also.

Im almost down on my knees thank you! It was very frustration by thinking I could work it out by playing around
then having no luck in the help section for the quick keys to help. Is there a way to access these tutorials somewhere?
Im trying to find the video links like the one you provided but no luck.

A few more questions:

I would also like to know how to move or drag the page around so I can move to different workspaces within the window
in case Im doing a large illustration or zoomed in and need to access another part of the illustration quickly.
In illustrator I just press the space key and a hand comes up.

In the same manner can I use a key to zoom and drag the area required?

Also would like to know if I can add and remove nodes on the line drawing by using the keyboard and mouse clicking exactly where I want them on the line drawing.

Lastly a page where I can print the keyboard shortcuts in a table form?

regards, CC

Is there a way to access these tutorials somewhere? ( http://screencasters.heathenx.org/page/11/ )

In the same manner can I use a key to zoom and drag the area required? (Use the zoom tool, looks like a small magnifying glass)

Also would like to know if I can add and remove nodes on the line drawing by using the keyboard and mouse clicking exactly where I want them on the line drawing. ( Yes you CAN ! :-)

Inkscape menu 'Help > Keys and Mouse Reference'
<http://inkscape.org/doc/keys048.html>

Most of the shortcuts can be redefined, but not all. See the comments in 'share/keys/default.xml' how to edit the shortcuts file and how to create a user shortcuts file overriding the shared one.

Can you help with this problem?
