Move guides root

Asked by Alf Gaida

Is there a chance to move the position of measuring root from lower left to somewhere (mid of page, mid of selected object)?

nope not in release 0.47 nor release 0.48. You'll have to check back when 0.49 beta is built, This coordinate reference point has been on the table for awhile, but it not an easy feature to change

https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170049

My understanding is the .svg specification calls for the XY coordinates to use the Top - Left corner of the page border as the X=0,Y=0 reference point.. Inkscape flops the X/Y reference point to the Left/Bottom.. So since inkscape is commited to svg compliance one would expect to see the top/left reference point implemented first, before a follow on "allow any" reference point to be implemented...

Will you be using the "centered" reference point for a png export? If so i might have a trick for you...

No, it's just about workflow. When i create an centered design, i mostly work on the design from the middle of the page, so it would be nice to have the center of the koordinates in the middle too.

Another point is, when i work on a complex substructure, i mostly have the reference point on the lower left corner of the substructure, so i can measure the structure absolute to the lower left.
