Saving an Inkscape .svg project

Asked by Felicia Coddington

I don't seem to be able to save a file. I can export a bitmap no problem, but I would like to save the .svg so that I can come back and edit it later. The normal Save As dialog box opens, I enter the name and select the type: Inkscape SVG (*.svg) then click save.

The file isn't in the folder specified, the title bar in my open window still says New document 4...I'm confused.

I should be able to save. Is this a glitch? I would hate to close the program and lose my work...already did that once.

I searched in BUGS and found this, you may want to search the BUGS and see what you might find..

https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/505463

You could try using another version of inkscape until the bug above is updated,

try 0.46
http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.46/

or 0.48 pre-release (close to being finalized)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.48pre1/

oops,

final note if you choose to uninstall 0.47, you may want to run a registry cleaner before installing 0.46 or 0.48. Here is a link to a freeware based (well maintained) registry cleaner..

http:www.piriform.com CCleaner is what you may want to run
