Does not save background color when saving as EPS

I can set the background color via the document properties dialog but when I save the file as an EPS and then open it in another program, the background is transparent

Thanks, that's sort of an annoying bug.
The company I am sending the graphics to needs it an EPS format.

You can add a page-sized or larger rectangle and move it to the bottom below your design. Then you can adjust its fill color to the desired background color.
