Is animation possible?

Asked by Greg Coysh

I enjoy Inkscape, thank you!

Is Inkscape able to make three dimensional animations using paths?
One example,...a bouncing ball with changing surface texture over time following a gravity recessive trajectory.
(Eg- smaller successive "bounces", ending in rolling along a flat plane to rest.)
Most of my larger animations were landscapes, used as backgrounds for digital video projects.
Example: Sunrise over a Japanese valley with Shinto Shrine used as title animation with text for vacation video.
I previously used the Corel product "Bryce 5" to do this, but it is no longer available/compatible.

If Inkscape is not suited,...which program do you recommend that will work with Inkscape, please?

Many Kind regards

Greg

Inkscape doesn't do animation at present (but animation is in the SVG spec, so Inkscape should eventually support it).

The sort of animation you describe could be done in Blender (which, like Bryce, is for 3D modelling, rendering and animation). I don't really understand what you mean by "work with Inkscape" though - you can obviously create PNG files using Inkscape that could be used for texturing in Blender, but maybe you want something more than that?

small add to sas reply - you could use SVG directly in Blender with some patches.

Can you help with this problem?
