'Import' Enlarges File Size

Hi,

I am using Inkscape version 0.46 and 0.47 and I found this bug. When I import an SVG file into another SVG file, the new file size increases with any additional changes (whether adding/removing lines or any other objects). Worse, the file size remains even I removed everything! I have a file with a couple of lines only and it is 1MB, can you imagine that?

The SVG file was fine before the 'import'. Meaning, if I removed lines or objects, the file size reduced appropriately. It misbehaves only when I import other SVG in.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but have you tried using Vacuum Defs (on the File menu) to get rid of unused definitions?

Can you help with this problem?
