White unwanted area when saving

Asked by Mark Koop

I've set the page background alpha to 0, but when I save, there is still a white box around my svg drawing. Is there a way to save just the drawing without any background?

Use 'File > Export Bitmap…' instead of 'Save as Cairo PNG'

That works well, thanks, but what if I want to save it as an SVG file and upload it to something like Wikipedia? Will it still have the white box around it?

Will not.
In any case you could check it. Just open or drag&drop your file in browser.
But why you set alpha to zero if you don't need background at all? Simply delete it.

Cheers, Oleg
