Installing extensions with mac osx

Asked by emily

I can't figure out how to download and install the extensions for Inkscape. I'm using Mac OS 10.6.2 and when I try to use an extension a message tells me that:

"The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml."

I've read several similar posts none of them make sense to me as to where I put the files once I download them, and exactly what files I should be downloading. So, if somebody could tell me what I need to download and where on my computer the files need to go, it would be really helpful.

Thanks

Unfortunately the extension system doesn't work in Inkscape 0.47 on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and the issue hasn't been solved yet.

See bug #482993 “Inkscape extensions do not work on MacOS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)”:
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/482993>

it seems there was a fix to this. The same happens however with os 10.8.4, with python 2.7.2 installed.

Is there a workaround?

Can you help with this problem?
