Is autocad (v12).dxf supported in inkscape?

I need to save in (autocad)v12.dxf format. The save options in inkscape only gives me desktop cutting plotter (v13).dxf. The inkscape manual says there are two .dxf save versions? I tried getting around this by bringing the v13 file into auto cad and resaving as version 12. When auto cad resaved it as the v12 the file size is huge, about 30Meg. I tried doing some things like converting it to block and purge in auto cad. It only made the file size bigger. So is there an autocad v12.dxf supported in inkscape? I'm using a New Hermes '98 engraving software program. I tried other file extensions (.eps .emf .plt .wmf) and they wouldn't import correctly. Thanks.
