Still problems w/ paint bucket/fill

I was having trouble w/ the paint bucket and followed the previous advice to change the preferences and things seemed okay, but now it is doing the same thing again. It isn't letting me change the fill. It seems to have selected the proper color but isn't applying it. It seems to be applying but I don't see the fill color. I set the stroke fatter so that I can definitely see that it is changing the stroke but the fill doesn't change. It is hard to explain... I just want to be able to select the paint bucket fill color... what do I need to be doing differently?

Hi again ;)

Did you check the alpha channel (Fill and Stroke dialog, Fill tab, RGB tab, slider A)?
This value must be greater than 0 (and 255, if you want no transparency) in order to see the color.
