use of unicode in creating text

Need to add European paragraph mark to text in Inkscape. Have found the unicode digits for paragraph mark: 00B6. In Inkscape I press text toolbar, then Ctrl+U....nothing happens....no place to enter the digits....What am I doing wrong?

hi
in the bottom toolbar there must appear string after Ctrl+U - Unicode (Enter
to finish)
there is no 'place to enter' - just press needed buttons and enter after
all.

p.s. you also could use character map in your OS (dunno what it is)
