how to run softwares and games on linux

i want to run some softwares like stellerium and games like GTAVice city on linux
how can i do this it doesnt show any setup procedure
is their a way for this on linux or i have to do use them on XP.

download wine, it helps to run the windows programs with linux. for me it helps.

For info on running software under linux try LinuxQuestions.org, this site is specifically about Inkscape (vector graphics app) use and development.

I very much doubted that GTA Vice city will run on Linux even under WINE; however http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1369 shows that I'm wrong and the retail version runs perfectly with the latest WINE.
