How do I copy and paste into Powerpoint?

Asked by Chris Haugen

I'd like to make an object and paste it into Powerpoint without a white box around it. Is there some way to neutralize the background? Thanks

I don't know. Here's some things to try.

Clipboard use between applications is prone to break. You'd need to be sure that your Ppt is enabled for SVG use first, from what I gather (eg http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppsvg2.html) you need to use the Adobe ActiveX SVG plugin to enable you to place an SVG image in a placeholder in a PPT document - I doubt you can just paste it in and still have SVG? In which case you'd save the file and reopen as in the link.

Two things to try though - 1) check in your Ctrl+Shift+D menu (page properties) that the background of your page is transparent; 2) if you're not bothered about the image being an SVG within a PPT then you could simply export the file as a PNG and drag-drop it from your file manager into your PPT doc, this might also work if you do a Edit > Make bitmap copy and then cut that bitmap and paste it into your PPT doc.

Doesn't work. The bitmap copy pasted to Powerpoint doesn't support transparency.
Pasting a default copy (ctrl+c) or a bitmap copy leads to the same result, a bitmap object in PP.
