What is the output of:
 defaults read com.apple.versioner.python
 defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.versioner.python
 env | grep VERSIONER_PYTHON_PREFER_32_BIT

Note: possibly the installation of wxPython changed (or at least also requires) the default 'python' to run in 32bit mode.
