a) The fix in #11 does work ( export VERSIONER_PYTHON_VERSION=2.5 ), however it is unnecessarily disruptive to the operating system, as it sets python 2.5 to be the preferred version system-wide. This can have unanticipated side effects.

My version (#17) has a similar method-- forcing python 2.5 but only for Inkscape --and also works as tested on several systems, including ones with macports.
