1) failure to open 'ChannelGuideWithEmbedImages.svg'
reproduced in Inkscape 0.47+devel r9108 on OS X 10.5.8 (console messages attached)

2) failure to load linked images from 'ChannelGuideWithoutEmbedImages.svg'
not reproduced with Inkscape 0.47+devel r9108

3) failure to open file when repeating the steps (open PDF -> save as SVG -> open SVG)
reproduced with Inkscape 0.47+devel r9108: the SVG file fails to load with these console messages:
