I can also confirm that the fix committed in r12563 takes care of the format security errors when using the latest version
of clang (Xcode 5.0). Trunk (r12566) now builds successfully with this compiler using --disable-strict-build. Back-porting to
the 0.48.x branch sounds good. Thanks for your efforts.
