I find it baffling that this could only be a medium priority issue. (In practice, it seems to have been treated as a low priority, as evidenced by the fact that two and a half years have passed without anything approaching a fix.)

For what it's worth, Windows 8.1 64-bit. I'm on a Lenovo. But none of the above-mentioned processes (e.g. IntelligentTouchpad, StrokeIt) are running on my computer. Re some of the more recent observations, I don't have Java on my computer, and the problems started as soon as I installed Inkscape today, so there can be no question of new fonts affecting anything.
