monochrome icon?

Thanks for the info. The monochrome icons are used only when the panel uses ubuntu-mono-dark or ubuntu-mono-light icon themes for the panel. In Unity, this is the default.

I probably haven't accounted for all the situations. If you could tell me what operating system you're using (ubuntu, mint, xubuntu, etc) and the desktop environment (Unity, GNOME Shell, XFCE, Mate, etc), I'll try to see what is easily possible.

It seems this was because I'm using a customized icon theme (oxymentary-mono-dark) in Ubuntu 12.04.
Meanwhile I've produced monochrome versions of indicator-stickynotes.png and placed them in respective folders, and got a custom solution ;-)
I thought such applications would use a monochrome icon automatically whenever a monochrome icon theme is detected.
I think the current scheme for panel icons is a little bit messy.
When I look at the ubuntu-mono-dark icon set now I still can't find any stickynotes icon there.
Can you please tell me where I can find them so that I can optimize my custom solution?

It would be great if you could make an option under the Settings dialog for selecting a monochrome icon, for those using a monochrome theme other than the Ubuntu default.

Thanks for the information. Because indicator-stickynotes is a submission to the ARB (app review board), the package in my PPA installs nearly all its files into /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/indicator-stickynotes/. If you are interested in making symbolic links or copies of files, that would be the place to look.

That said, I think it is important to support multiple monochrome icon themes. There might be a way to do this. I haven't done my research yet. Thank you both for your suggestions. I'll take a look at what can be done. If there is no simple solution, I might have to do what Mo-Yu said. I would prefer if the user didn't have to deal with more settings as I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible.

But I think I'll prefer my own home-made monochrome icons for both dark and light panels ;-)

I'm glad you were able to find them. When I get more time, I'll investigate whether it's possible to have monochrome icons that work for any monochrome theme.

Do you have find a solution to provide monochrome icons? I have the same problem, Ubuntu 12.04 and radiance theme+faenza radiance icons...

It may perhaps work if you only put those icons in gnome or hicolor icon sub-folders.

Otherwise, you can create a custom mono-dark/light icon theme (e.g. faenza-mono-light) by copying the contents of ubuntu-mono-dark/light folders, editing "index.theme" file (changing theme names), and adding those custom monochrome icons for Indicator Stickynotes in respective sub-folders, and choose this new theme.
