Will this work in Xubuntu?

Asked by Zone Asia

Just wanted to check if this would work in Xubuntu. In the past an indicator or two has created some problems for me as were more suited to unity than xfce.

Hi,

Thank you for checking. While this was made for Unity, it might work on Xubuntu. I have not tested it on Xubuntu yet. I do intend to try it out in a few weeks. If you'd like to experiment yourself, feel free to try.

In my PPA, I am missing the following dependency: gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1. So, if you try it out, ensure that gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1 is installed. You can do so by running:

sudo apt-get install gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1

For the next version (hopefully within a couple weeks), I will include this dependency in my PPA.

If you do decide to wait for me to test it, I'll post my findings here for your convenience.

Thanks.

Hi,

I just tried using it from a virtual machine and it seems that indicator-stickynotes needs `gir1.2-gtksource-3.0` to run. Therefore, the command to install indicator stickynotes on xubuntu would be:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gir1.2-gtksource-3.0 indicator-stickynotes

Note that gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1 seems to be installed by default so you'll only need gir1.2-gtksource-3.0 extra. I'll make sure to fix this in the next version.

Thanks,

Umang

I have tested the new version (0.3) on Xubuntu and it works fine. Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks,
