The volume control (step size) is too different respect to alsamixer (more proportional)

Asked by Fabio T.

Hi,

when I try to set the volume value via indicator-sound (keyboard, mousewheel etc.) I get a too LOUD volume value.

If instead I use alsamixer, the volume variation is more proportional and fluid.

You can see by yourself by a direct comparison (db gain and master step in alsamixer)

With "powerful" speakers this is a big deal.

I'm sorry, I forgot to say that I use xfce, anyway i've partially solved the issue:

XUBUNTU xfce4-volumed patched for pulse audio server

https://launchpad.net/xfce4-volumed-pulse

Default behaviour expected 5 steps; with the following command drops to 1:

xfconf-query -c xfce4-mixer -n -p /volume-step-size -s 1 -t uint

Still remains the problem related to the steps of indicator-sound, such as the mouse wheel and do not know what else.. but for me it's ok.
