Cannot uninstall Hardware Sensors Indicator from Linux Mint 19.2...says this ppa not supported by bionic! But it is installed on my Lin ux Mint 19.2 How do I uninstall it please?

Asked by J

Cannot uninstall Hardware Sensors Indicator from Linux Mint 19.2. When I try to uninstall through sudo or root sudo it says "cannot get a lock ..this ppa not supported by bionic". But it is installed on my Linux Mint 19.2 and nests on the system tray even though under the preferences I have not selected login automatically at login! How do I remove/uninstall this ppa please?

Many thanks

John

The old PPA is not supported anymore - instead you should use the snap package of indicator-sensors.

You should still be able to uninstall it regardless of the source of the deb - the 'can't get lock' error means some other process is using the apt package cache - so usually just wait a few minutes and try again. You should definitely be able to just do a 'sudo apt-get remove indicator-sensors'. To then remove the PPA, you can use something like ppa-purge - see here for more details https://askubuntu.com/a/310/218

Can you help with this problem?
