Debugging instructions.

Asked by Emanuel Hategan

Hello,

System load indicator version 0.3-0ubuntu1 stopped working for me today on ubuntu 14.04.
I've upgraded to the latest version (indicator-multiload 0.4-0+87~46~22~ubuntu14.04.1) but that didn't help.
I can see the indicator-multiload process running but the UI doesn't show up.

I can't find any relevant information in /var/logs.
Can you please provide instructions for finding out what the cause is?

Thanks,
Emanuel

Hi Emanuel,

that is weird. If you kill it from the command line (killall indicator-multiload) and restart it, does it appear again?

The only thing to try would be to see whether indicator-multiload --trayicon does anything (should show a tray icon instead of an indicator), but otherwise I don't really have any idea other than turning-it-on-and-off-again....

Hi Michael,

thank you for your reply.

Killing indicator-multiload and restarting it didn't help.

indicator-multiload --trayicon kind of worked: the icon would not show up, however, that particular area was clickable and the metrics were shown.

In the end it turned out to be a misconfigured unity issue.

Thank you,
Emanuel
