isn't there ppa for Ubuntu 14.04/15.04?

Asked by Akronix

Hi!

I want to know if there exist a ppa for indicator-keylock and, if there isn't, how can we get the last versions of it.

I used to have: http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsbarnes/indicator-keylock/ubuntu added to my repos sources, but It doesn't work anymore.

https://launchpad.net/~tsbarnes/+archive/ubuntu/indicator-keylock provides a version of indicator-keylock for trusty, and for vivid you should find indicator-keylock in the standard repositories.

In what sense does http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsbarnes/indicator-keylock/ubuntu "not work any more"?

hi!

I'm on ubuntu 15.04 "vivid"

If have added the ppa doing this: apt-add-repository ppa:tsbarnes/indicator-keylock as indicated here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-keylock/+bug/1009332/comments/12

But, when I do apt-get update I get this:

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsbarnes/indicator-keylock/ubuntu/dists/vivid/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/tsbarnes/indicator-keylock/ubuntu/dists/vivid/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

Yes, it is clear that you get this error message.

The instruction for the bug report is valid only for Ubuntu releases up to utopic.

For vivid (and wily) you have to remove this ppa from your list of repository sources, and you will find an up-to-date version in the standard Ubuntu repositories.

But I can't find the indicator-keylock-icon package using ubuntu vivid repos, is it actually up-to-date?

I did not realize that you are looking for the indicator-keylock-icons package. This is the first time that you mention it in your question document.

It seems that there is a current version of the indicator-keylock package available in the standard repositories for vivid, but I did not find any version of indicator-keylock-icons for vivid (neither in the standard repositories, nor in a PPA).

What you might do is

1. manually download and install an indicator-keylock-icons package for an older Ubuntu release (I not expect dependency problems)
and/or
2. contact T.S. Barnes https://launchpad.net/~tsbarnes and ask him to provide also a vivid version of the indicator-keylock* in his PPA.
and/or
3. create a bug report with a request to package also indicator-keylock-icons in the coming Ubuntu releases.

Just an addition to my previous posting:

Why do you think that you need indicator-keylock-icons?
The indicator-keylock package for vivid does contain a set of hicolor icons.

I want to change the icon set, by default they're not using my theme (ubuntu-mono-dark) as they're supposed to use, instead, they're using the ugly ones.
