To launch Thunderbird from the Indicator Applet:
Create a file named ‘thunderbird’ in:
/usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/ folder with the following contents:
 ‘/usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop’.

hope that helps

Thank you!

Doesn't work at 100%, I think because Thunderbird doesn't support anymore messagging menu
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MessagingMenu/

Little question: the direktory is owned by root at my pc so i can't create a new file in it

Jens: try to create the file as root. For example use "gksudo gedit /usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/" to create it.

'gksudo' means you want to act like root, 'gedit' is the text editor in GNOME.

And how to get new-mail notifications to work in Thunderbird?

I'd like to get new-mail notifications too.

Could such process but for claws-mail be guessed from this one or is there a catch ?

thank you,

lomitko: You will have to talk to the Claws Mail developers about that.
