preference-dialog for indicator-applet

it would be great to get different options to choose for the indicator-applet like:
- choose the messaging programs which show or not to be shown in applet
- choose how the notification looks like
- choose when a notification will show up

i.e. i use thunderbird, skype and empathy and therefore i would like to have them in the applet and disable evolution and pidgin...

It's absolutly neccesary for me because I would like to have only the volume indicator

Alternative suggestion:
How about indicator applet adhering to the preferred applications configuration?
Of course, this would require that the preferred application options also allow setting the messaging program.

Right-click on the applet -> Preferences. Like all other configurable panel applets.
It would be fantastic to be able to choose which apps to show (Pidgin, Empathy, Evolution, Gwibber, etc),
Reorder them, add / remove them.
