Hide online status icon...

Asked by Lars Dam

...Or rather - i would like the applet only to be used as a session component. Why mix online status for social services with mechanisms to turn off your computer?
I do not wish to use the online part of this applet, but yet i am forced to see it. Very annoying to have an 'offline' icon that do not mean anything to me.
I would be satisfied if it was possible just to hide it.
Best would be to separate these as two different applets.

Opening a terminal (Applications → Accessories → Terminal) and typing:
sudo apt-get remove indicator-me

should remove it.

It the above answer works for sure, I just tested it on a fresh install. You just need to run »killall gnome-panel« to restart the panel and see the changes. :)
