Will indicator applet apps menus be made more homogenous ?

Asked by Loris Zinsou

Hi everybody
I have noticed that there is some differences between menus shown by the different indicator applet icons, which is IMHO some kind of papercut.

For example :
In Transmission : "Show Transmission" is an option, with a checkbox, and it can show transmission or it can hide it. In addition, it's at the top of the menu.
In Rythmbox : "Show Rhythmbox", is an action, so it has no icon, and it can only show Rhythmbox main window, and not hide it. Contrary to Transmission, it's at the bottom of the menu.
I'm sure we could find other examples of non homogenous app menus.

What should be the canon behavior ? For me it's Transmission's one : while for Rhythmbox, as Rhythmbox main window is shown and has the focus, the menu entry is "dead" (it does nothing), Transmission's one is still usefull, and makes it easy to hide the main window. There is more : top position for the menu entry is closer to the icon, so the mouse movement is shorter ! In rhythmbox menu, "Show rhythmbox" is too close to "quit" entry...

There is a close problem with the messaging menu : could you please explain why this behavior has been chosen ? When the a software has the focus, its menu entry is useless, while we could revert its function to hide it (for exemple: if it has not the focus, then give it the focus, if it has the focus, hide it, if it's hidden or not yet launched, show it or launch it ; it would be no problem if only one instance per software would be allowed...).

Thanks for reading me, sorry for my bad English !

Moreover opening rhythmbox for the first time (applications<sound and videos<rhythmbox) doesn't open the software. It goes strait in the systray... I need to clic the systray and "show rhythmbox" to access the program. When I want to open it, it should open by default so that I can select the music I want to listen to before throwing it to the systray.
