Opening GPX file in Google Earth

Asked by hazza96

I have a GT-200, I have 0.2.92 of this program installed and I am having problems viewing multipart tracks and way points in Version 5.1.3506.3999 (beta) of the Linux Google Earth.

When I view the GPX file with a text editor it has multiple tracks but GE will only display the first track or waypoint. It knows they are there, it just will not show them to me.

To get around the problem I can seperate the different tracks into multiple files or delete the lines that make it a multipart so the GPX file is a single track. The later is my preferred workaround as I down the track at the end of each day and just want one track of the entire day.

To see what I mean I have uploaded the original file and the altered file of Day 3 in Paris here:

http://tux.com.au/files/Paris_Day_3_orig.gpx
http://tux.com.au/files/Paris_Day_3.gpx

If I get the www.gpsvisualizer.com web site to convert the GPX file to a GE kmz file it all works perfectly. All tracks and all waypoints are shown in GE.

See for yourself here:

Maybe this should have been a bug? I put it as a question because it might just be me doing a bonehead.

Thank you for you question. I think it should be a bug (I filed one, bug #438404). The files should be as compatible as possible. I just need to test that a track with multiple segments imports ok in GE and viking, then I will change igotu2gpx to export one track with multiple segments.

Can you help with this problem?
