Unable to find a source package for <package name>

Asked by Jared K. Logg

Another question for ya'll...I recently downloaded a i-nex_0.4.6 tar.gz and I'm trying to use terminal to install it... but I keep getting this error:

jared-logg@Private:~$ sudo apt-get build-dep i-nex
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to find a source package for i-nex

How do I make it locate it? I currently have the extracted folder on my Desktop...

HELP! I am having the same problem. I tried the response eloaders posted in #1 but the 2nd command (the apt-get) just gives that same message

E: Unable to find a source package for i-nex

i have the .tar.xz download (i-nex-7.4.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz) unzipped and in my Downloads folder, but I don't see how the above knows how to find it? Am I missing a step here?

Can you help with this problem?
