a "simple" media player that allows: search-click-play instantly would be? a bug, app, UI?

Asked by How

Most of the "so-called" media players...spend a great deal of time and are unduly complex in "providing
configuration" when they should...point - click - play without elaborate maneuvers.

A "real search" application would be...very satisfying for those that; constantly use their PC's for storing
music-photos-data-etc.

I've yet to find any application...that allows EASY scanning routines from flatbeds or all-in-one printers
that will; "show Sharp - Crisp - High Resolution" previews, that will interface with Graphic Apps in simple
EASY TO USE methods. Having used all versions of "MS Windows" since their inception....I am in the
process of switching over to Liniux - MAYBE! I've been using Ubuntu & Kubuntu for several months,
and was Very pleasantly surprised with how smooth the installation went!

So really, my question(s) are; Installation went fast & smoothly - rated 100% simple & easy
Trying to understand Liniux Terms - " 70% easy to find / awkward
                                                    Getting Online - 100% with Mozilla easy/fast
Reliability Factor (no BSOD's) - 100% crashes occur, but don't kill!
Virus & Malware Issues - 100% nothing wrong (yet)
                                                    Application(s) Gnome & KDE - NOTHING WORKS GREAT! - 80%

This is where Apple & Microsoft really shine/deliver. This is the "Absolute - Primary Reason that
Microsoft has been dealing with (poorly) since they allowed Vista to be released too early, before
they had ALL (93%) of bugs worked out!!! Granted, they've got paid personnel working on most
apps (long before release), but we need - Want - EXPECT any program/app to work Properly......
"WITHOUT" having to configure it, and to have it work SIMPLE....dates back to Windows 3.1 and
Windows 95....to configure the right drivers and even back then The menus were Easy TO USE
and nothing was "awkward to understand".

If I look at photos I've saved in a 2nd-4th sub-level folder...close , and decide to show it to someone
later in the day....nothing being viewed (thru Dolphin) should change!? I go back and that folder
is gone? I find it in another folder that wasn't labeled similarly...why? Then I have to tag it - or cut
and paste it back to where it was before viewing -why? Many PC -users, are Lazy or They Don't
Want to spend 5 minutes to get an application UP & Running, most are not PC Literate. So the
TRUE concept to success is ...............keep it very easy.......very stupid ....and simple AS POSSIBLE!

Terminal is great for us Nerds/Geeks...the average user won't dare to touch it(or use it) With the
vast array of apps available one or two (max) should be available for most "COMMON" uses and
be easy for ANYONE to USE...in less than 5 minutes! Forget the 100 Paper Cuts.....if the program
won't load & operate within 5 minutes - IT's GONE! scrapped until it can won't fast & simple!

With everything else Liniux has going for it, this would pull ALL of the Microsoft (many Apple)
users over to Liniux, very Very VERY quickly!

I fail to see any real questions relating to the " On Hundred Paper Cuts" project here.

If you have trouble with something specific, like "I go back and that folder is gone?", I really encourage you to report a bug against the effected software.

Try keep any bugs you report on one individual issue, give clear steps to reproduce and describe how you would expect the software to behave.

Does that solve your questions?

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask How for more information if necessary.
