easy to fix system

Asked by mik

I find it very annoying that when I have a broken system (I know there is a boot cd but its time consuming to keep having to boot up and then power down all the time to try your fix.)

I have to try and remember the terminal command and have to keep booting in and out of the cd disk, or write them down.

what if you could have a file commander type console (so you can view the files/directories you need) with a terminal line and also switch between a basic web browser so you can do a quick research to fix your problem (when you have a dead machine) it would also need to have internet access built in as well (a bit like the new motherboards coming out) so that you could make a quicker fix to your system.

imagine how much time this would save techies. maybe your browser could run along side the file commander pane

the mini system would be activated in the menu commands of your cd and you would boot into it in less than 5 seconds. maybe also your mouse would work so all you would need to do it cut/paste your solution/fix from the browser to the terminal line.
thanks
Mik

If you have an idea you want to discuss bring it up in a mailing list. If you have a specific, well-thought-out idea you might file a blueprint to the effected project.

Does that answer your question?
