Difficulty selecting control points

I'm having a frustrating time selecting control points when trying to adjust them for improved accuracy. When I click on a control point more often than not it creates a new control pt., often trying, with bad results, to match that point so I have delete the point. This all before I try again to select the control pt. that I want to adjust. This can happen several times with one pt., making the process slower and more tedious than it already is.

As you might imagine this gets very frustrating. Is the there to select a control pt. without generating a new one?

I'm working with Hugin 2014.0.0-RC4 on a Mac with OS 10.8.5

Click direct on the cross selects the cp fine here. Maybe zooming in helps to better see the cross.
You can also select the cp in the list on bottom of the panel.
