Feature request: delete all control points through lines on 'layout' tab

Hugin is so slow with a panorama with lots of images. I now have a panorama with 298 images (8 rows) and I have to wait a few seconds for every action (select another tab, delete a control point, etc). Would be nice to do something with that slowness (I tried Autopano Giga, which doesn't have the functions I need, but it's so much faster!).

A 'quick' solution for me is to have less control points. So I want to delete the control points between images that only have a very small overlap (the diagonal lines in the 'layout' tab).
It would be great to be able to select a line an the layout tab and have a button 'delete all control points'. Would be even better to select multiple lines (with ctrl or so) and then delete all control points of the involved image pairs. I'm doing it manually now and since Hugin is soooo sloowww, it takes a lot of time.
Maybe it's also possible to do the opposite: select a line (or multiple) and make control points between the selected image pairs.

Would it be possible to implement such a feature?

And please look to a way to make hugin faster, because with big gigapans I can't work well with it.
