Verical line errors in scanninga document

Asked by Thomas Campbell

On my Officejet Pro 8500 Premier or A909n the scanner puts 2 vertical lines down the left side of a document when putting the documents through the feeder and then the image comes out on my computer with the vertical lines on it. When putting the document on the scanner glass it does not do this..I have cleaned the printheads and it is still there. I have had this printer for about 6 weeks and it is excellent except for this problem that just started several days ago..

Take a look at the following support document. Cleaning as directed under step under Solution 2, Step 1, substep 6 should solve this problem. If it doesn't work the first time, repeat.

Hope this helps

Dear Launchpad,
This did not solve my problem. What do you mean by service the
equipment?..Do I take it back to Staples where I purchased it or call some
number at HP?..
Tom

It is unlikely that Staples will take it back after 6 weeks, so you should then call HP's phone support. The number for that is 800 474 6836 if you are in Canada or the US. If you're somewhere else, check the HP website for contact info.

They will ask you do these steps again as they solve this problem in the great majority of cases. The phone support can perhaps direct you better than we can over email.
