Photosmart C5580 Ink Color Question

Asked by MMarking

I have a C5580 using the 3.9.8 driver as provided though the Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 repositories.

This printer can take 3 types of cartridges:

HP 74 - Black
HP 75 - Color
HP 99 - Photo

You can install them in combos of 74/75 or 75/99.

Question: With the HPLIP 3.9.8 driver, what is the proper cart combo for producing true black and white photo prints? I suppose the more technically accurate question is what combo do you use for accurate gray-scale photo printing?

Thanks.

Hi MMarking,

You can choose 74/75 for high quality gray scale prints. For color photo print best option is to use photo cartridge but since your image is black& white so 74/75 combination seems to be more viable.
At the time of printing choose the Image Quality as Best and and color/OutputMode High Quality Grayscale.
