Cannot install HPLIP driver on my acer aspire one

Asked by tcox1612

I've followed the install wizard instructions to download the correct version of HPLIP (3.9.10) for my Acer aspire one (Linux linpus) and it downloads ok, but when I try to run it, it states it needs to 'add dependencies'. Then I get an error message saying there is an 'error updating software'. Clicking on the 'details' section reveals a long list stating:

file /usr/lib/libhpip.so.0.0.1 from install of hplipfull-3.9.10-0 conflicts with file from package hpijs-2.7.7-6.fc8 etc

How can I go about downloading HPLIP? (Please bare in mind I'm new to Linux!)

Thanks for any help!

Can you please check out the below link:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linpus.html

Please make a note in below command of web-page the hplip package name should be corrected. It should be the file name of the downloaded package For e.g hplip-3.9.10_linpus-9.5.i386.rpm.

su -c "rpm -Uvh hplipfull-3.9.4.rhel5.rpm"

Thanks,

A
