How do I install a printer on linux ubuntu 8.04

I am using Linux Ubuntu 8.04 and I want to install hp Laserjet 1200 series printer.
How do I go about installing this printer?

Hi,

Thanks for using HP's product and supporting HPLIP. To install the printer you need to download and install HPLIP software from the link http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html
Choose the correct OS and model number of your printer. Once you have downloaded you can run the command from shell as sh ./hplip-3.9.8.run or (replace 3.9.8 with )whatever version you have downloaded. Then follow the interactive steps and answer appropriately.

You may also refer to link http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html for the options which would be asked at the time of installation.

Make sure all the dependency at the end of the installation is resolved. If the installation complains of some of the packages being not found then you need to install those dependent package also using apt-get install <package_name>

This has solved my problem . Thank you very. But can I more than one printer for HP on the same computer? I want also to install HP Photosmart C4280 All-in-One

Yes you can install many HP printers with HPLIP.
