Support for HP Deskjet F2400 Series

Asked by Tich

I recently acquired a HP Deskjet F2420 All-In-One Printer/Scanner (CB735B) and was very disappointed that it didn't work under linux.

Is there any ETA on support of the F2400 Series with hplip or should I try to return the printer to the vendor?

Hi Tich -

We're currently working on adding support for the Deskjet F2420. Assuming we don't run into any major problems, this unit should be supported in our next release which is due out later this month.

Thank you for supporting HPLIP.

I have a similar problem, is this printer already supported on Ubuntu 9.10 ?

Thanks

Nope, still waiting for the new HPLIP version.
Due out later this month means today though, but I hope it isn't far away.

My HP Deskjet F2420 works with the recently released HPLIP 3.9.10.
Just follow the instructions on http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html and you'll have your printer working in no time. :D

Hi!
I have bought HP Deskjet F2400 today. It didn't work with old hplip (there aren't drivers). I have found this discussion, I have downloaded the new hplip and... my new printer works!!!
Thank you!
Now I have another problem: I haven't the gui interface for hplip (I have uninstalled it before the new installation). Can I reinstall it from synaptic (on Ubuntu 9.04)?
Thanks!!!!

Hi Angie -

Yes, you can reinstall via synaptic, or you can use our auto installer to reinstall. Instructions can be found here, http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html. I'd suggest using synaptic to uninstall HPLIP before using either method to re-install.

Thank you for supporting HPLIP.

I have a Thinkpad R500 running Karmic and tried the new HPLIP (3.9.10) with my HP Deskjet F2480 - works perfectly. Thanks!

My problem is that the scanner doesn't work at all. Xsane starts, but when I try to acquire the preview, it says that it couldn't initialize the device, invalid argument.

Any idea?

Hi Pau -

Can you run "hp-check -t" and post the result? I need to see the state of your machine to diagnose this issue.
