Install problem with libhpip.so hpijs and HPLIP 3.9.8.34

Asked by jimmyjump

Hello I am running RHEL5.0
Printer hp2035n
HPLIP 3.9.8.34.internal

I have installed HPLIP3.9.8.34.internal using the RHEL specific rpm file. I had to remove the hpijs-1.6.7-4.1.el5 rpm package in order to get the install to finish. I was getting this error--

Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
file /usr/lib/libhpip.so.0.0.1 from install of hpijs-1.6.7-4.1.el5_2.4 conflicts with file from package hplipfull-3.9.8.34.internal-0

I am concerned of what the ramifications of removing hpijs are. Do I need this package for my cups printing to continue working?
The reason for installing hplip was to get the hp p2035n printer support, to be able to use the 2035 ppd files that are installed along with HPLIP.

From within system-config-printer I have chosen the 2035n-hpijs-ppd file and the printer prints. So do I need the hpijs rpm, is it necessary?

I have attached the output of hp-check -t

Thank you much.

You can safely remove the HPIJS package and shouldn't have any issues. HPLIP includes HPIJS, etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Aaron,
I actually reinstalled the HPLIP software after installing some dependencies I needed.
I first removed the hpijs rpm.

I added the p2035n to the cups spooler using hp-setup -i <ipaddress>.
It asked me to install the driver plugin and I did do that successfully as well.
As seen below, the printer is correctly recognized.

However I am still having issues. We use this model printer for printing labels, not sticky labels but labels using an sfdc application. This particilar model of printer prints well from every application but this sfdc application which prints labels to standard paper with an A4 size or layout.
Usually for all of our HP printers we use RAW print queues..but this one takes 2 minutes to print a job.
This is the reason I decided to try the HPLIP software and the recommended linux drivers. However it has not helped. If we put another hp printer in its place it prints fine. Seems like a hardware specific issue to the p2035n..We have multiple p2035n connected to jet directs and all are experiencing this issue. No matter which driver I try it still takes 2 minutes to print a job..I tried the driver from Linux Open printing database as well and the issue is the same.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
Any ideas, I am running out.

Thank you much

Aaron,
man what a pain this is an issue with the I/O time out on the jet direct card not the printer. So it can be said I did all this for nothing. Well at least i got to install HPLIP and learn how to do that.
I wonder can I/O timeout settings be controlled from the driver to over ride the print server card. i bet not.

Anyway thanks for your time.

Thanks Aaron Albright, that solved my question.
