LPD printing via USB to HP P2055dn?

Asked by TJ Snider

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a HP p2055dn on FreeBSD 7.2

I rebuilt the kernel to get rid of the ulpt0 etc.

I have upgraded my ports collection and built hplip 3.9.8 and can send files directly to the ugen0.1 and they print, but the printer does not believe that the printing has actually 'finished' and does not allow further printing....

ie. cat tiger.ps > /dev/ugen0.1 prints the tiger, but the printer still says "Printing document"

I am not clear that I've managed to get the right PPD, as I copied one from my Ubuntu box, that manages to find and configure and print via USB okay, so it's not that CUPS can't print to it. But I need to get it working under FreeBSD.

I cannot get hpssd to start, it keeps complaining about needing to run /root/.hplip/hplip.conf

I have tried a whole bunch of things, but would like some trouble shooting help

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

I am an old developer, but a bit rusty and not used to hplip... but learning the hard way...:8}

I would like to set this up as a LPD spooler... not a GUI. I'd like to be able to print from Windows boxen as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
TJ

TJ,

We are unable to provide any assistance with FreeBSD. Other users have reported success (albeit awhile ago). If you don't mind I'm going to set this question to answered as we are unable to provide assistance. Although the question is still search-able and someone with more information can still answer.

Sorry about that.

Aaron
