no contact to HP Designjet 5500 printer

Asked by Uli Huber

Hi,

I have a good working HP Designjet 5500 RTL formally used under Win10 and wnted to migrate to Linux.
As a distribution I choose KDE Neon 22.04, which I found recommended for picture editing an printing.

I have access to the printer's status webpage, so my ethernet connection looks fine. When I start 'add printer', I see the Designjet and suggested drivers. Installation seems to complete without any issues. Everything looks good but when I start a print job, I see 'connecting to printer' and then 'printer does not exist'.

No idea what I could have done wrong. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Uli

When you click print, look at the print page window that opens.
At the very top of the print window is Destination.
Does the destination have your printer listed ?
This is a drop down box.

Can you help with this problem?
